Last weekend was a bad one as I lost on all 3 picks for the EPL and another one in Wigan. I thought Wigan would bounce back after their loss to Ipswich. Last weekend was Boxing Day in England and it seemed as thought the favorites took the day off.

Enough complaining. Here is my pick for New Year's Day-

Birmingham +0.5 -105 over Newcastle (Pinnacle)
Birmingham has won their last 4 games. They have had a taste of climbing up the tables and another win would put them in a good position. Newcastle, on the other hand, is out of position and has a few players missing due to injury.

Middlesbrough - Manchester United

5. Middlesbrough 20 10 5 5 34:24 35

3. Manchester United 20 11 7 2 31:13 40

Very interesting game. Middlesbrough playing nice football in the EPL and in the Uefa -Cup this year. Middlesbrough have at home a great record of <st1:date Month="3" Day="6" Year="2001">6-3-1</st1:date> and they won the last four games at home in a row. Manchester United is in a great form, too and I think this will be hard match. And it’s hard to predict, too. But I think Boro will not lose against Manchester United - both teams playing currently great football and Boro have nice stats at home and playing strong and I think for this nice odd for Boro I will try a bet on them.

Tottenham - Everton

8. Tottenham Hotspur 20 8 5 7 24:19 29

4. Everton 20 12 4 4 23:17 40

Tottenham @ 2.30 Bets4all.com

After five winning-games in a row Tottenham played last round 1-1 against C. Palace. At home they have a <st1:date Month="4" Day="3" Year="2004">3-4-4</st1:date> record and they are playing at the moment nice football and I think they will win against hard-fighting Everton. Everton lost last round against Charlton 0-2 and on road they have a <st1:date Month="3" Day="5" Year="2002">5-3-2</st1:date> record but Tottenham is currently in such a great form and so I think I will try the nice odd of 2.30 for them.

Portsmouth - Norwich City

10. Portsmouth 20 7 5 8 24:27 26

18. Norwich City 20 2 9 9 <st1:time Hour="17" Minute="36">17:36</st1:time> 15

Portsmouth @ 1.70 Bets4all.com

Portsmouth playing so far a nice season. They have at home a record of <st1:date Month="1" Day="5" Year="2004">5-1-4</st1:date>. The last two games they lost against Arsenal and Chelsea London at home. Norwich City lost three games in a row and they are playing bad football on road. They have a record of 0-5-5 and I think they will have no chance today against Portsmouth. They can not score on road and they have a poor offense and so I think Portsmouth will win easily this game at road against this poor newcomer.
